Time Under Tension

Time Under Tension

Heyyy sis!

I  missed creating these blog posts for you. They are my way of helping you apply the word of God to everyday life. I pray you had a great Christmas and New Year.

In recent months I have been on a fitness journey, well you know my 5th one. This time I decided to strength train with a trainer to gain more understanding of gym equipment and build the shape I desire.  To say my body has been through it is an understatement, one day, I wanted to give up, but who is wasting this money, not I.lol… My trainer tells me that “Time Under Tension” will benefit my physical health, increase muscle mass and strength, help reduce the risk of illness, improve mental clarity, and help me build endurance. I can testify that all these things are true. However, whenever I heard him say “Time Under Tension,” it did something to my spirit.

These scriptures kept coming to mind:

“For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:”

Hebrews 10:36 NKJV

“The race is not given to the swift or to the strong but to the one who endures to the end”

Ecclesiastes 9:11

Endurance- means getting through the trial without compromising or wavering.

Now, I don’t know about you, but 2024 was a year where I not only built more endurance but endured well because I allowed God to mature me in years prior. Through hard times, great blessings, and rejection I was postured to make it through 2024 with more strength than I thought I’d lost. It may seem counterinitiative to celebrate pain, but when I think about what pain builds when you place it in God’s hands everything always works for your good.

Just as I have increased the weights, I use in the gym to continue to build muscle, God is calling us to allow things that aren't so pleasant to cause his daughters to build stronger prayer lives, study his word, and set boundaries. He also used those things to help us build a voice, and walk in confidence so that we can establish his works in the earth. Don’t allow that strength to be wasted as we walk into 2025. Increase your weight in the spirit and don’t forget who you are because you will need all of it to press through and become the woman God called you to be this year.

My encouragement is to pray and ask God what your priorities need to be in this season and work them like your life depends on it because who God created you to be does.

Let’s Pray!

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come before you saying thank you for bringing me to another year and for your continuous love toward me. I don’t know where I would be without your guidance and grace. Lord, I ask that you forgive me of any sins that have caused me to be far from you. Now, Father, I surrender to your will for my life this year, not as someone who doesn’t know who you are or what you have placed in me, but as someone who will live as they know. I come to you saying yes, I will go and do what it is you have called me to do. I now realize that I was in strength training to build endurance for the walk ahead. I say I have your way; I will maintain a posture of surrender as I press toward what it is you want to be done in my life.

It is in Jesus’ name I pray these things by faith, Amen.
